2024 pilgrimage to Csíksomlyó

This year there were eighteen of us from the Hungarian Association - members of the Order and families - to set off in two minibuses to Our Lady of Csíksomlyó, to pray for graces and physical and spiritual strength.

On Friday, we attended the opening Mass of the Székelyudvarhely procession, from where fivehundred people were setting off on foot to complete the pilgrimage.

Nine Knights and Dames of the Order of Malta and one Johannite Knight joined the ecclesiastic procession up the mountain. Over threehundred thousand pilgrims had climbed up to the Csíksomlyó shrine in the mountain saddle, to participate in the solemn Holy Mass. The next day, we were able to celebrate Pentecost Sunday Mass together with the returning Székelyudvarhely procession, as guests of our brothers and sisters from Transylvania. We concluded our pilgrimage on Pentecost Monday with a Holy Mass at the Ugron family Chapel, having walked along the path of the Szekler Stations of the Cross, set up in recent decades by the Ugron family.

In addition to the spiritual aspect of the pilgrimage, we had the opportunity to visit the Kemény Castle in Marosvécs, enjoying the wonderful hospitality of Géza Nagy-Kemény. Mrs. Éva Maróty-Ugron gave us a warm welcome in the newly renovated Ugron Castle in Fiátfalva. Led by Béla Ugron, we then visited the Madarasi Harghita and the Lázár Castle in Gyergyószárhegy. We returned home safe and sound, enriched by a lot of experiences. Thanks be to God!
