The Hungarian Charity Service of the Order is thirty years old
On 4 February 1989, the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta was registered with 31 founding members. It was given the number 10 on the official register, meaning that it was the 10th NGO registered in Hungary under the new law on civil society organisations, passed as part of the transitional measures signalling the end of the socialist era.
The Charity Service of the Order of Malta has become the leading charitable organisation in Hungary; it serves tens of thousands of people every day.
